Photo taken around The Dochula Pass is a mountain pass located on the road from the Bhutanese capital Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, to Punakha, a historic town in the western part of the country. The pass is situated at an elevation of approximately 3,100 meters (10,171 feet) above sea level. One of the notable features of Dochula Pass is the Druk Wangyal Chortens, also known as the "108 Chortens." These are a series of 108 memorial stupas or chortens built in 2005 by the Queen Mother of Bhutan, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, to honor Bhutanese soldiers who died in a conflict with Indian rebels in 2003.
